so that引導的表示結果的狀語從句作“因此”、“以致”、“所以”解。so that 與so …that 的意思相近，但后者含有表示程度的意思，而前者卻沒有。例如：He spoke clearly, so that everybody understood him.

so…that 句型中的“so+形容詞（副詞）”可以提至句首，以加強語氣，但要注意用倒裝語序。例如：

So bright was the moon that the flowers were bright as by day.
